Music leaves no one indifferent, and is experienced differently by each of us. For example, it is a way to travel for some people, and a way-out for others. For Claire, a 16 years old girl, music literally saved her live. Especially Kendrick Lamar‘s music.
During his set, at the Sweetlife Festival in Columbia, Maryland, Kendrick invited Claire on stage after he performed “A.D.H.D”, and he told the crowd: “This young lady been through a whole lot in her life. She was telling me some stuff down there that was real sh*t. And the things that she said always remind me why I do this sh*t. At first I was selfish I only did this sh*t for myself and my homies. But I do it for young ladies like this and all of y’all out there. Real sh*t.”

Then, Kendrick sent Claire backstage, and met her after the show. The 16 years old girl revealed she was diagnosed with severe depression and became suicidal, but Kendrick’s music is the reason why she did not commit an irredeemable act. Claire: “I told him I was gonna kill myself, and I think his music was the main reason that I didn’t,” Claire said. “Because I had myself — and my music.”
Then Kendrick conclude by saying: “[I wanted to] bring her backstage and let her tell her story,” he added — which is what he did after the show. “Let her know, it’s more than just me bringing you onstage — I actually feel you. Because that’s why I do my music. And every time I see something like that, it reminds me why I do what I do. It was just crazy. She came back here, we signed some stuff for her, talked to her for a little bit, and told her to keep going.”
